My Spiritual Journey: How Yoga and Sudarshan Kriya Transformed The Life

The Beginning

In 2016, I embarked on a journey that would forever change my life—my spiritual journey. It was quite random that I landed up doing Sipirtual Practice. A young curios and vulnerable mind led me to the profound teachings of yoga, meditation, and the life-changing practice of Sudarshan Kriya, introduced to me (by friend) through The Art of Living, founded by the revered Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Ji.

The First Encounter with Sudarshan Kriya

When I first learned Sudarshan Kriya, a powerful rhythmic breathing technique, I had no idea how much it would alter my perception of life. The practice, which combines specific breathing patterns with meditation, brought an immediate shift in my mental and emotional state. I had never imagined that something as simple as conscious breathing could have such a profound impact.

Living the Wisdom: An Endless Journey of Discovery

Before my spiritual journey, I don’t call myself an anxious, depressed, or addicted person. Yet, the practices of Sudarshan Kriya, yoga, and meditation opened up an entirely new dimension of life—one I didn’t even know existed.

As I immersed myself in The Art of Living’s teachings, guided by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Ji, my days transformed. I began experiencing:

  • ✔ Effortless Joy – Not just happiness dependent on circumstances, but a deep, abiding sense of contentment.
  • ✔ Clarity & Productivity – A sharpened focus that made even challenging tasks feel smooth and purposeful.
  • ✔ Expanded Awareness – A shift from living mechanically to living consciously, with a deeper connection to myself and the world around me.
  • ✔ Confidence – Knowing that the universe supports those who walk the path of truth.
  • ✔ Happiness – A joy that comes from within, living happily with external ups and downs.
  • ✔ Resilience – Challenges no longer break me; they shape me.
  • ✔ Purpose – A deep sense that my life has meaning, and every step is guided by a higher intelligence.
  • ✔ Detached Engagement: I learned to work hard without being attached to outcomes—a true gift from the wisdom.
  • ✔ Effortless Efficiency: Tasks that once felt burdensome became smoother, as if life itself was supporting me.

Through Gurudev’s wisdom, I’ve come to understand that yoga is not just a practice—it is the art of conscious living. It is about harmonizing every aspect of life with awareness and grace.

This is what it means to truly live—not just survive, but thrive with wisdom, joy, and purpose. And the most beautiful part? This knowledge is not just for a select few—it is available to anyone who is ready to receive it.

Rollercoaster of Life: Ups and Downs Are Natural

Like every human being, I’ve had my share of ups and downs. There were moments of self-doubt, confusion, and emotional turbulence. But what changed after I embraced this spiritual path was my relationship with those challenges.

Before, a small setback would feel like the end of the world. Negative thoughts would spiral, and anxiety would take over. But through yoga, meditation, and Sudarshan Kriya, I learned that:

✔ Emotions are temporary – They come and go like clouds in the sky.

✔ Pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional – How we respond to life’s challenges makes all the difference.

✔ Breath is the anchor – No matter how chaotic life gets, returning to the breath brings instant stability.

The biggest shift? I no longer felt like my struggles could push me toward destructive decisions—whether anxiety, depression, or worse. I realized that suffering is part of the human experience, but it doesn’t have to define or destroy us.

Gratitude to Gurudev, The Art of Living Family & Everyone

None of this would have been possible without the grace of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Ji, the beautiful Art of Living Family & Friends and Family around . The teachings, the satsangs (spiritual gatherings), and the Seva (selfless service) have all shaped me into the New and Confident Me.

The Journey Continues

My spiritual journey is far from over—in fact, it feels like it’s just beginning. Every day is an opportunity to deepen my practice, to serve, and to grow.

If you’re reading this and feeling a call from within, I encourage you to take that first step. Whether it’s through Sudarshan Kriya, meditation, or simply sitting in silence, the path is open to all.  And also you can write to me on koiralaroshan678@gmail.com.

Remember, life will always have ups and downs—but with the right tools & guidance, we can navigate them with grace, wisdom, and unshakable inner strength.

With love and light,
The Roshan
